There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website asks your browser to store, so that it can recognise your device on a later visit. They are how most sites remember a login, a shopping basket, or which adverts you have been shown.
Why this site has none
This site publishes research. It has no login, no basket and no personalisation, so there is nothing it needs to remember about you between pages. The language you are reading is carried in the address of the page itself rather than in a stored preference.
The previous version of this website did use analytics cookies. The rebuilt site dropped them, and this page was rewritten to say so rather than describe tracking that no longer happens.
Third-party content
We load no third-party scripts: no analytics, no advertising, no social media buttons, no embedded fonts or maps. Everything the page needs comes from our own server. That is also why no external service can watch you read.
The one thing that leaves our server is a PDF you choose to download, which is served by us directly.
Server logs
Our host keeps standard web server logs — the requested address, the time, the browser and the IP address — for security and troubleshooting. These are not cookies and are not used to track you across sites. They are covered by our privacy policy.
If this changes
Should we ever add something that needs a cookie, this page will be updated first and consent will be asked for before anything is stored.
